Instead of permanent stone or wooden sculptures, we will see variable forms based on physical tension and interdependencies. We will explore how natural and artificial materials interact with one another and whether the material itself suggests a particular interpretation. We’ll discover that in an ever-changing world, movement and change can be a source of creative energy.
Workshops: Working in groups, we’ll take on the role of builders. Using flexible materials, we’ll collaboratively create large-scale objects. We’ll focus on the process of shape transformation, building spatial relationships, and dynamic collaboration.
Sculpture Beyond teh Solid
The exhibition “Sculpture Beyond the Solid” presents contemporary sculpture in a completely new and surprising light. Durability, closure, and perfection are no longer the primary goals of the artists. In today’s ever-changing world, sculpture is moving away from the form of a heavy, immobile monument. Instead, it is becoming a fascinating arrangement of processes, tensions, and relationships.
The exhibition brings together works by international artists who boldly experiment with materials. The exhibition surprises with its form, and—importantly for the dynamics of a group tour—the works are not confined to traditional exhibition halls. The sculptures break free from their frames, “spilling” into the museum’s corridors and common areas.
How do we work with students at the exhibition?
Our educational program provides a space for physical and creative activity.
We use these unconventional forms as a pretext to:
- develop spatial imagination and constructive thinking,
- stimulating sensory awareness (exploring textures, weight, and tension),
- learning to collaborate and carefully observe ongoing processes.
