KINOMUZEUM is a place to watch European arthouse fare, genre films, films by artists, documentaries and animation, meet with filmmakers, and discuss film art with experts in film theory and practice. We actively screen films from MSN Warsaw’s own extensive collection.
The mission of KINOMUZEUM is to capture the frictions and permeations between art and film, but also the social dimension happening here and now and defining our everyday life, as well as historical aspects revealed by film archives and artists’ collections, enabling us to view modernity from a distance. Operating at the intersection of film and modern art, exploring the tension between theory and entertainment, together with our diverse audience we interrogate the purpose and role of cinema today.
The cinema program is created in dialogue with the inhabitants of Warsaw and surroundings, and with them in mind. We carefully view all films in the KINOMUZEUM repertoire, from the classics to the latest releases, and examine them from a cinematic perspective, before programming them for our audience. Each screening starts with a brief introduction where we explain why we decided to include the film in the cinema program.
