Untitled (Grandmother), 1984. (1-1/1)

Between the years 1983-1984 twentysomething Libera took care of his ill grandmother. The illness and slow agony of the old woman inspired the artist to create a series of works documenting human body dregradation. The work Untitled (grandmother) consists only of one photograph (the rest, which hasn't become part of this work and document Regina G's old age, are a part of “family album” catalogue.

It's a photo portrait of the ailing grandmother's face, suspended between life and death. The artist documents every detail of old woman's face. Her isolation from the surrounding reality seems to conform harmony between two worlds where seemingly one cannot reside both at once. The photograph resembles a deeply spiritual misterium, and is an homage to both the grandmother and death itself, whose grandiosity the artist accepts within respect and humility.
