JUSTYNA GÓROWSKA, MISSING!!!, 2008 (1-1/1)
In November 2008 Justyna Górowska hung up in Cracow posters informing about her being missing. People called under the indicated phone number, not knowing that they speak with the „missing person”, and their talks were recorded.
The major part of the speakers consisted of persons from Catholic society, and one of the women has even donated a holy mass with intention to find the missing person. The performance was implemented in the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow within the frames of the exercise entitled: „The Mass Media Mode of Reality Reporting”. The action, aimed at showing the manipulation of information by mass media, became a mental utmost and de-personalizing experience for the author. Received information about her presence in places, where she was absent, has put a question of how strongly her „self” is constituted. The performance has caused identity effects for Górowska, which endure up to now.
