IBA Warsaw?
WARSAW UNDER CONSTRUCTION 5

  • IBA Warsaw?

“Architecture Exhibition” is our demand regarding the issue of reinvigorating the architectural life in Warsaw for the years to come. Residents of Warsaw could benefit from good international architecture – to be located in a district which needs transformation and produce tangible results.

At the national level – the exhibition would be a good idea for the promotion of the city. Organising a big architectural exhibition would imply the development of real buildings. This type of exhibition is represented by the German IBA exhibitions, which usually take about 10 years to prepare, but as a result, real architecture is constructed and real projects are implemented. This exhibition would be a great opportunity for both Varsovians, and curators, artists and everybody interested in the future of the city.

IBA, i.e. the architecture exhibition, is our idea on how to reinvigorate the architectural life in Warsaw for the years to come. As a result of the exhibition, real buildings will be constructed, and the festival exhibition serves only as a means to an end. Such exhibitions are organised, inter alia, by IBA in Germany, where after many years, the project is finalised and put into operation. The exhibition would like to offer Varsovians good and functional architecture (in order to solve specific local issues and change a district which needs transformation). At the national level, this exhibition could prove to be an excellent means of promotion of the capital city. It is an opportunity for everybody: the inhabitants, artists, curators and architects.

In our debate, we would like to suggest, to the city authorities, an idea for organising a big architecture exhibition, which would involve the construction of real buildings. This type of event is represented by the German IBA exhibitions. In Germany, it usually takes 10 years to prepare an IBA, but as a result, real architecture is constructed and real projects are finalised. This exhibition would be a great opportunity for both Varsovians, and curators, artists and everybody interested in the future of the city. The exhibition could be extremely important for the capital city in a number of ways. In the context of the fifth edition of the Warsaw under Construction Festival, the Warsaw “Construction Exhibition” is our demand regarding the issue of reinvigorating the architectural life in Warsaw for the years to come. Varsovians could simply benefit from good architecture - to be located in a district which needs transformation and produce tangible results. At the national level – the exhibition could serve as a tool for the promotion of Warsaw.

"Architecture Exhibition" is one of the elements of Warsaw’s architectural life. The idea of artists, curators and architects participating in the exhibition is to create real and functional architecture. The exhibition, drawing on the German IBA project, involves a lot of benefits for the city. It is a promotion of Warsaw across the country. The residents, on the other hand, can benefit from the regeneration of their district, which needs a change.
