Paweł Althamer, Goshka Macuga: The Venice Biennale in Bródno
The catalog accompanies the anniversary edition of the Bródno Sculpture Park.
The 10th edition of the Sculpture Part was prepared in the form of a biennale: for nine days, between June 23 and July 1, 2018, the whole Bródno neighborhood became an art exhibition. Instead of a finished, tangible work of art the viewers were given a conceptual “model kit” to assemble themselves, an exhibition in which the map is territory.
The catalog includes almost ninety location descriptions - literary, often very personal comments from essayist Olga Byrska and the Museum's chief curator Sebastian Cichocki. The descriptions are often accompanied by comments from local residents (surprise authors and curators for locations selected by Goshka Macuga and Paweł Althamer), compiled by Aniela Trojanowska. The texts are completed by Wojciech Radwański's original photographs. The book's modern, minimalist graphic design was created by Ola Jasionowska.
The Venice Biennale in Bródno, just like the Bródno Sculpture Park, is open 24/7, all year round. The Biennale Catalog can be seen as a walking guide for this one of a kind neighborhood-exhibition.
