New York Marathon, Dominik Lejman’s video mural from 2003, is a short film sequence of looped images arranged into a colourful decorative flower pattern. Using digital video camera documentation of a colourful group of runners taking part in the marathon in New York, Lejman creates an aesthetically attractive mosaic of anonymous characters. The work creates a virtual crowd, showing how one’s identity can blur within a human swarm.
