Monuments And Art In Public Places

We can read in the "History of One Monument" by Adam Banach published in "Projekt" ["Project"] (1963, No. 6) that monumental sculpture is a fulfilment of sculptor's dreams. Hasior was interested in the social impact of art. He was simply obsessed by clarity of expression. He spoke slowly, concentrated, measured words. Although, he declaimed and fell into exaltation, but worked on concepts [e.g. icefall]. Building a form he worked in line with properties of matter, its natural expression. The drawing studies to Snozka show how he synthesised. "He wanted the monument not to become outdated" (Banach, p. 17). When designing for public spaces he paid much attention to landscape conditions. A monument which intermingled with the landscape was supposed to be an emanation of absolute, was supposed to build an eschatological scenery in the viewer's eye.
