Lublin Theatre Spring, The Lublin Workshop 1973

Upon first failures with the fish, at the Poetry Office, I decided to continue my dialogue with a living fish. Fish has many symbolic meanings in literature and myths – to me, the most important is that fish is clean and silent. My intention was to deceive the viewers with art, or my personal expression.

Holding a fish in my hands for some time, I was talking to it tenderly, hugging with it, I was more and more tender with it. I was wondering what people think more important – suffocation of the fish or my author’s play. At the end I cannot stand this „play” myself anymore and surrender, putting the fish into water. This was as if the fish has spoken to me! Still, the effect was tragic, because when I went to change my clothes, some girl wanted to „help” me and trampled the fish down.
