The question of fonts and printed matters is not a private issue anymore
A meeting with Agata Szydłowska and Marian Misiak

  • The question of fonts and printed matters is not a private issue anymore

The Museum of Modern Art kindly invites readers to participate in the meeting about the book by Agata Szydłowska and Marian Misiak which was just edited by the “Wydawnictwo Karakter” publishing house.

We all know Polish literature, Polish films, painting, music, but does such thing exist as Polish letters?

If so, what distinguishes them from the prints designed in France or in Germany? Why do some people love the crooked letters on beer kiosks and others hate them? Behind the seemingly neutral letter shapes there are some exciting stories hidden, great debates and sometimes angry conflicts. Agata Szydłowska and Marian Misiak, the authors of the book "Paneuropa, Kometa, Hel. Szkice z historii projektowania liter w Polsce” (“Paneuropa, Kometa, Hell. Stories on letter design in Poland”) will explain all this to the audience.

The meeting will be conducted by Przemek Dębowski from Wydawnictwo Karakter.
