Memories of the Future is a situative intervention which exists at the limits of visual arts and addresses the sensorial perceptions and memories of the museum’s public.

Ari Benjamin Meyers, who was trained as a composer and conductor, and Sissel Tolaas, a chemist and smell researcher, will come together for one day and one night inside the Emilia building to engage with the public through a memory game based only on smell and sound.

After having explored the history of the Emilia building with the help of a psychic, Meyers and Tolaas will give the empty building its olfactive and auditive memories back to the public, and in dialogue with them reactivate their own smell and sound memories.

In this way new memories will be jointly created.

The visitor's memories together with the memories of the building will then become the Memories of the Future.

Project implemented with the support of The Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation (Stiftung für deutsch-polnische Zusammenarbeit) and The Max Planck Institute for Human Development (Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung).
