On the occasion of "A beast, a god, and a line", Dhaka Art Summit Chief Curator Diana Campbell Betancourt grounds the work of Bangladeshi modern and contemporary art in the exhibition within the history of art and architecture in East Pakistan and later Bangladesh, a country where language and culture are bedrocks of its national identity.
She will speak about the work and institution building practice of Zainul Abedin (1914-1976 ), Muzhuarul Islam (1923-2012), and Rashid Choudhury (1932-1985) and their legacy in Bangladeshi contemporary art in terms of the work currently being done by artist led initiatives across the country.
