KRZYSZTOF ZARĘBSKI, UNTITLED PERFOMANCE, 1979 (51-57/57)

The Untitled Performance by Krzysztof Zarębski with participation of Elektra Kurtis was demonstrated within the frames of the Gallery P.O.BOX 17 activities, carried on by Tomasz Sikorski and Tomasz Konart. As the gallery had no space of its own – having only a postbox No. 17 at the Post Office No. 65, 00-973 Warsaw – Zarębski and Elektra Kurtis performed on a guest basis in the Warsaw Club „Stodoła” on 24 June 1979.

The result was a delicate mysterium performed at a slow speed for about half an hour. The sound came from Elektra Kurtis’ violin, and Krzysztof Zarębski was manipulating with his uncommon items, such as a bow hanging in the air and dressed in a fur coat, an attribute used many times by the artist in the form of foam, with which he covered various items and himself, and Zarębski’s signature from those times – a flower pot with artificial denture. Deluded audience watched the performance in silence and concentration.
