Arti Grabowski's performance High Noon bears reference to Fred Zinnemann's film under the same title. Dressed in a cowboy attire, the artist spends twenty four hours standing still in the Błędów Desert in the northern part of Poland, awaiting an adversary that will never come.
A recurring motif in Grabowski's artistic practice consists in putting the artist's own psychophysical condition to trial. A stillness that lasts for twenty four hours entails an effort for the body, which therefore becomes a battlefield. Thus, the figure of the adversary is constructed: and adversary who is not physically present, but who becomes incarnated in the form of time, whose experience is amplified by motionlessness.
