  • Zbigniew Libera, Eva, 2005

Work Eva was made in the context of home performances that the artist carried out at his home in Pabianice in the mid 80’s. In works made around that time the artist explored issues concerning body, sexuality, mental illness and death, trying to connect it with mystical aspects. This approach is also noticeable in his work Eve, which provocatively references the Book of Genesis in the Bible and the motive of the original sin. His work is also a critical commentary to dominating "church-friendly" independent art, made in Poland during the dark years of the Martial Law and afer, i.e. the 80’s.
