Rytka examines here the concept of permanence and its different meanings. Observing the changeability of the shadow cast by a swinging stone hung on the rope, and the evanescence of a candle flame – the artist differentiates between different degrees of permanence: incidental, fading, cyclical, volatile and constant. The latter is represented by stones, used in the majority of Rytka’s works.
