The Bestiary of Unconsciousness (...) refers to Medieval bestiaries – illuminated volumes that depict existing animals and fantastic creatures with allegorical and moral meanings ascribed to them. (...) Works by Aleksandra Polisiewicz also feature unreal headless hybrids that evoke hidden layers of content, which is not codified within a single allegorical system of meanings. They rather refer to tropes related to dreams and unconsciousness, to primeval longing for fluid gender identity.
