Filmoteka Muzeum

Floor from Basel is a performance-for-camera in which the artist struggles to crawl on the floor of an empty apartment. Filmed from the floor level, her body writhes in a bizarre choreography to the accompaniment of moans and groans. This grotesque scene is contrasted with a doubled video recording of Steve Reich’s Clapping Music, shown in the corner. Reich created the minimalist piece in 1972, using the rhythmical clapping of performers’ hands as the only instrument.
