Memorabilia is a joint work produced by the artists Alicja Karska and Aleksandra Went. The artists have, since graduating from The Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts, worked collaboratively in the production of artwork. In this work the artists address the subject of memory and emotion, using photography as both medium and object. The film explores distant memories, using a series of holiday photographs from their childhood spent together in Kashubia, Poland, as vehicle to summon this experience.

Slowly we discover the elements of this world: a lake, a pier, trees, and small holiday cabins. The images are not clear – they appear blurry and are difficult to discern. The camera registers enigmatic details and dim characters. The potential to remember is questioned, the reconstruction of the past appears to be impossible. The eye can only slide over the surface of memories in a vain attempt to unravel the pictures of the past.
