Lectures and Meetings

The educational program of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is dedicated to offering education to the widest group of visitors – raging from professionals and students to small children – who are interested in various fields of culture.

A series of debates, meetings, lectures, presentations, seminars and workshops organized by the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is called Open Museum. The events within the series draw inspiration from Oskar Hansen's theory of the Open Form, where emphasis is placed on the collaborative learning process to replace the traditional hierarchical process of imparting knowledge. The pillars of this approach are: negation of specialists’ primacy, continuous endeavor to translate knowledge into universally understandable categories, and the attempt to allow the audience as "amateurs" into the field of specialist knowledge. The process of creating a common dictionary for professionals in different fields and the cooperation between them are of equal importance.
