A session featuring British and Ukrainian guest lectures on the preparation proceedings of the large-scale sports events of 2012 - the Euro 2012 and the Summer Olympics in London - and the ways in which those events may affect the architecture of the hosting cities.
Oleksiy Radynski and Oleksandr Burlaka will talk about the history of the sports facilities in Kiev, as well as discuss the political and historical conflicts that the Euro rekindles. Owen Hatherley will focus on the consequences of accommodating the Olympics in the urban space of London which is already beleaguered by the crisis and real estate speculations. Agata Pyzik will discuss the transformations that took place over the last few years in the Praga district of Warsaw, the future stage for the Euro 2012.
