The Teeth of the Archive. A Presentation on Political Art By Gregory Shollete
On the basis of his multiannual artistic practice, Greg Sholette will be talking about the potential of the archives as a vehicle for reclaiming visibility by groups and narratives that have been forgotten, ousted or overlooked by official versions of the history.
In recent thirty years Warsaw, similarly as New York, has seen a dramatic economic and social shift. In consequence, entire groups and individuals have been buried under the debris of oblivion, disappearing from the common horizon.
Sholette, who is a researcher and archivist of the dark matter of the art world and urban exclusion himself, will share with us an artistic workshop that allows an elementary exposure of urban absence. Together we will be wondering to what extent we could use his methods in our own context.
