Between the Ethnographic and Material Culture
A lecture by Ewa Klekot

While looking closely at Zofia Rydet’s life project, Ewa Klekot considers why Zofia Rydet decided to title her work “Sociological,” and not “Ethnographic record.”

The ethnographic, understood as a way of addressing the world growing out of the tradition of the “ethnographic method” in the social sciences, seems to much better describe the character of the Record. Taking on an ethnographic perspective will also allow to address the “material culture” that is clearly visible in the Record, that is the strong presence of things in peasant culture.
