Anti-universalism of jihad – the late effects of colonisation
Michał Sutowski’s interview with Patrycja Sasnal

The first discussion of the cycle of meetings accompanying the exhibitions "After Year Zero" and "Lest The Two Seas Meet" will be held on July 14.

The large-scale political processes, including decolonisation, bring about delayed social consequences. The euphoria of the first decades of autonomy of Third World countries is more and more visibly being replaced with the consciousness of the scale of its oppression. The most extreme manifestation of this process today is the popularity of jihad and the so-called Islamic State or ISIS – anti-universalist, ultra-xenophobic terrorist organisation that appeared on the embers of colonialism. Even the colonisers themselves could not predict such effects of the colonial era.
