Monstrance, 1990 (1-1/1)

„Monstrance“ is one of works prepared by Libera for an exhibition „Bakunin in Dresden“ (1990). The artist created a work in his studio in Dąbrowa in the spirit of so-called “church socialist realism”, for which the inspiration was a cycle of paintings found by him in St Florian Church in Pabianice.

„those paintings depicted workers with their tools, and in the background a view of the town with the church tower and factory chimneys in the light of rising sun. then I realised such thing existed, church socialist realism”.
„Monstrance“ is the second, next to “Gate” metal installation prepared for the exhibition in Germany.
