Pretty boy, 1986. (1-1/1)

The work comes from the time when Zbigniew Libera explored human sexuality. The area of his interest encompassed all that was on society's margin, non-normativity, gender fluidity (both biological and culture one), androgyny and their reception by wider society.

„Pretty boy“ was made via cutting several frames from a film Libera registered of a young person relying on a wall, wearing only shirt and shoes. The person posing is the same as in the work “Magda”, what stresses the analytic dimension of the work challenging the principle of rigidly founded gender boundaries. At the same time, the work stresses that aspect of physicality which is an aesthetical product for consumption, depending on commodification rules of postmodern society.
