Intimate rites - board, 1986. (1-1/1)

Collage being a documentation of the work “Intimate rites”. It was a plate with film's frames sticked onto it, but with time it constituted itself as a separate work. Zbigniew Libera undertook similar experiments with form working on collages: “Artist's genius in psychological dimension” or “Criminality of an act on the example of Zbigniew Libera“.

„Intimate Rites - Board“ is another work inscribing itself into the artist's grandmother, Regina G. cycle. The work is an intimate documentation of the relationship that the artist had with his old, ailing grandmother. He took care of her for the last two years of his life, he washed her, dressed her, fed her, changed her nappies, as she wasn't able to take care of her physiological needs anymore. In this way the artist expresses his gratitude for his childhood years, when the roles were reversed (Libera was raised primarily by his grandmother, because his mother was busy working at hospital).
