Zbigniew Libera archive

Description by Filmoteka Muzeum

The film is the private documentation of the second presentation (the first took place in Düsseldorf) of the exhibition "Bakunin in Dresden", held in Hamburg at Kampnagel Fabrik. The work concerning Mikhail Bakunin – a reconstruction of his grave carried out by Jacek Kryszkowski and situated at the entrance to the exhibition – became the symbol of the entire show. The exhibition was devoted to Polish art in the context of authority and freedom in Poland amid the 1989 transition. It was impossible to go past Krzyszkowski’s work. The visitors to the exhibition were left with no choice but to accept the challenge – either tread on it or step over it. Bakunin in Dresden was one of the seminal groundbreaking exhibitions in Polish art. Participants included, among others, Zofia Kulik, Jolanta Ciesielska, Przemysław Kwiek, Ewa Partum, Jacek Rydecki, Jerzy Truszkowski, Zbigniew Libera.
