Borowski hung nine "poetic self-portraits", each metaphorically showing the changing attitudes of the artist. "In those potraits I am attempting to reveal my own attitude towards my own image of the world, to bring it to the surface of the picture". Self-portraits show the subsequent stages in Borowski's work: through informel, structuralism, organic and kinetic art, pop-art, environment, happening, conceptualism.
