Tadeusz Rolke Archive

The Tadeusz Rolke Archive includes 62,000 negatives and 4,000 transparencies. The priceless collection of the works of a photographer active in Poland and Germany can be divided into several groups.

The first group are pictures from the period when Rolke specialised in journalistic photography, working for periodicals such as "Stolica", "Polska" and “Ty i Ja”. The second part is a documentation, priceless for the Museum, of the Polish artistic life of the 1950s. The other groups are pictures from the 1970s when Rolke lived as an emigree in West Germany and worked for „Die Zeit”, „Der Spiegel” and „Stern”.

Besides that, the archive includes Tadeusz Rolke’s artistic photographs, such as the famous Fischmarkt (1978), Traces (1984-1995), Remake (1983/2009) or “Hier waren wir” (2008).
