GRZEGORZ KLAMAN, THE LINE OF FIRE, 1986 (1-4/4)

The action on a frozen Motława river in Gdańsk. Grzegorz Klaman together with Kazimierz Kowalczyk poured out on ice under a bridge a stripe of paraffin oil, which they lightened up. The line of fire connected two banks of the river.

During preparations for the action there was a process of underground Solidarity activist, Bogdan Lis, on the way. Klaman and Kowalczyk walked through Gdańsk, covered with Motorized Reserves of the Citizens' Militia, with bottles of paraffin oil. Fortunately they were not stopped. The action itself was an interpretation of resistance into another language, search for a language which would not speak directly, such as painting the anchors of the Fighting Poland.
