HONORATA MARTIN – THE MOMENT, 2015 (1-5/5)

In January 2015 in Gdańsk Honorata Martin has entered a dirty Radunia river channel flowing along the Krosna street. Giving herself up to the stream of cold water, the artist wanted to capture the moment when it starts to feel pleasant. Michał Szlaga was standing on the bridge, documenting the process.

„She goes into the water – it is cold, as it is in January. Shivers go down the spine. The body mobilizes itself and stiffens, then it relaxes. Red buttons on „Emilka” style shirt go with red trousers and lips, which were also to be in the color of blood. It is even nice. Muscles relax. Now it is good, she has won. She freezes. Michał makes pictures, but she doesn’t even notice it, only fights for the negatives, matt paper and water, spread over failed cheap prints, like tears”.
