Footage of Noah Warsaw's (Zygmunt Piotrowski) performance Birkenau Nachtkampf from 2010. The video documentation was created by Tom Hodbod.
The performance took place between the 16th and the 30th of January 2010 before dawn in front of the main gate to the former concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The artistic activities preceded the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the camp and were pursued until the Jewish holiday Tu B'Shevat on the 30th of January. The performance drew on the symbolism of the tree of life. The artist referred to the Hebrew tradition related to the 15th day of the month of Shevat, the New Year for Trees.
