ArtWiki & Open Call (1-42/42)

ArtWiki (www.artwiki.org) applies the principles of the Open Web to the art world. The 7th Berlin Biennale has invited the almost 5,000 international respondents to their Open Call to join ArtWiki and put their artistic and political statements, biographies, and CVs online.

Artists were encouraged to join so they can help to build this open library of online portfolios of contemporary art, fully controlled by the artists themselves and free for any kind of use. The empowerment of the artist community is possible with the same tools which made Wikipedia a valuable source of knowledge. ArtWiki facilitates easier and more democratic access to art. More than 1,900 artists have already agreed to take part. This initial multitude starts to build the project, which will survive the Biennale for at least a couple of years as a resource of open data for the arts.
