In 2006, the mayor of Sao Paulo initiated a campaign to rid the city of all advertisements, billboards and giant trademarks placed at the entrances to shopping centres and fast food restaurants.

The authorities of the Indian city Chennai have been doing battle with roadside banners since the mid-1980’s under the belief that such signs are a cause of mental illness among city residents. Amateurs, documentarians and journalists bring us their short films depicting stories of the war on billboards.
