The Way Things Dinge - Ramona Nagabczynska

  • The Way Things Dinge - Ramona Nagabczynska

The new performance by Ramona Nagabczyńska is a study of mechanisms and dramaturgy of physical laws, which are of interest to the artist as a potential source of the aesthetic and choreographic matter.

Nagabczyńska makes an attempt to redefine subject ontology and define ontology of object and corporeality in confrontation with forces of coincidence and the performer’s intentional actions. The starting point for her considerations is the canonic work of the Swiss artists Fischli & Weiss “The Way Things Go”. Her performance is a proposition to rethink the process of the dancer’s gesture materialisation and the experience of one’s own “self” in a confluence of conscious, intentional actions, as well as those coincidential, dictated by the laws of physics and material limits of the body.

The artist strives to build a sequence of stage happenings, which require constant negotiations of one's position from the dancers, melting the boundary between the notions of subjectivity and objectivity in the performer’s work.
