The meeting will perversely refer to the issue of political involvement of art.
Instead of focusing on artists we will rather think of the role of “disobedient objects”, aesthetic forms (and other endeavours) created by them that accompany political events taking place on urban arenas. We will think of politics as a politics of objects with their own forms and functions as well as their place in the public space and imagination.
Artists, enthusiasts and urban activist enter into relations with “disobedient objects” that influence the shape and form of their political activity. The series of presentations will concentrate upon various eruptions of imagination, tactics assumed towards “disobedient objects” by professional artists and amateurs.
Gavin Grindon will talk about vernacular art forms accompanying social movements based on the example of his recent "Disobedient Objects" exhibition at Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Cecylia Malik will present her artistic practice in which she reflexively participates in the creation of an aesthetic form of a number of urban protests.
