Reality negotiators
The strategies of the Polish avant-garde in the context of Július Koller's works

  • Reality negotiators

During the meeting, led by Piotr Lisowski, Július Koller's work will serve as a starting point for a review of similar artistic approaches in 1970s’ Poland: those of Leszek Przyjemski and Anastazy B. Wiśniewski.

The similarities the author would like to emphasize are not only based on the assumed conceptual language of art, but continue to be an expression of wider tendencies associated with the socialist system, which Czechoslovakia and Poland shared at the time. The forms and strategies used by the artists were deeply rooted in the social and political reality of the period. The main characters of the story will be Leszek Przyjemski and Anastazy B. Wiśniewski - artists who worked together for many years and used gestures that were to express their objection to the social and artistic situation in Poland. Their friendship and their story, marked with countless anecdotes, mockery and absurdities, but also a personal tragedy, brings back our faith in art itself and the need for its constant change.
