RECONSTRUCTION GROUP
Meeting no. 1
The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is pleased to announce the first “lecture in action” for the Reconstruction Group.
The meeting will be devoted to the walk as a medium that used on many occasions by 20th-century artists, representatives of land art, conceptualism, or happening art. The lecture, as part of which the group will walk from the Museum on the Vistula to the Bródno Park, will discuss examples of “walked” art works and pedagogical methods, e.g. the Situationist International dérive (drift), the walks of Francis Alÿs, or the exercises of Berlin’s Institut für Raumexperimente.
The Reconstruction Group has been initiated as part of the 9th edition of the Bródno Sculpture Park, in collaboration with, among others, the young people participating in the Enter the Museum program and students of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts’ Faculty of Visual Culture Management. It teaches art history in practice, through repetitions and re-enactments of 20th- and 21st-century art works.
