A discussion on the Polish edition of “A Thousand Plateaus”

  • A discussion on the Polish edition of “A Thousand Plateaus”

The long awaited Polish edition of one of the cult philosophical works of the second half of the 20th century - "A Thousand Plateaus”, the second volume of Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari's “Capitalism and Schizophrenia” - was been published at the end of last year by Bęc Zmiana.

To celebrate this occasion, together with the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, we invite you to a discussion on the book with dr Joanna Bednarek, the editor of its Polish translation, and dr Krzysztof Wolański. The meeting will be led by Tomasz Stawiszyński.

“A Thousand Plateaus” is not a typical academic work - it's more of an exercise in poetic philosophy, a literary and metaphysical trip in which stiff, sterile definitions are replaced with a myriad of metaphors: the rhizome, the segmented lines and lines of release, abstract machines, becoming animal and many more memorable phrases and thought-provoking metaphors which have secured a permanent place in the philosophical discourse.

This is why it is not only an important read, but also, and more importantly, a very inspiring one, a testimony and example of thought that is truly free, lively and untamed - or, as the authors themselves call it, nomad thought.
