I AM. INTERNATIONAL ARTISTS MEETING (1-3/3)
In April 1978 Henryk Gajewski – an artist, film maker and founder of the Remont Gallery – has organized in Warsaw I AM – International Artists Meeting, de facto being the first festival of performance in the Eastern Europe. A several day event, to which Gajewski has invited around 50 persons from Europe, both Americas and Japan, was a place for demonstrations, lectures and sharing of artistic experience. Its fundamental meaning consisted of continuous introduction of the term „performance” into the language of Polish art, which replaced previously used actions, activities, plays, implementations, events etc.
