On Thursday, February 28, 2019, the contract agreement for the construction of new headquarters of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw was signed. One of the most important cultural investments in Poland, the construction process will take 42 months in total and it is planned to end in autumn of 2022.

The Museum is convinced that thanks to the proposed concept, the architect’s vision, as well as the entire experience gathered thus far, it will finally be possible to transform the area in the very heart of the country into a vibrant space pulsating with culture and the everyday hustle and bustle of a big city, meeting the needs and expectations that Poles have of their capital in the second decade of the 21st century.

“We are about to begin one of the most important cultural projects of recent years, which will in fact form the new centre of Warsaw. The Museum of Modern Art is an institution that reflects the spirit of the city – its modernity, diversity and openness,” commented the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski.

"The act of signing the contract agreement with the general contractor is an important milestone in the history of the Museum. Twelve years after announcing the first architectural competition we are finally beginning the construction of the new headquarters. This is an equally important moment for the city of Warsaw too." said the director of the Museum of Modern Art, Joanna Mytkowska.

“This is one of the most technologically complicated projects in Poland – not only because it will have an unprecedented number of uses and is to be constructed over two metro lines but also because of the novel technical systems that are to be used to construct the MSN building,” stated the CEO of Warbud, Jerzy Werle.

Construction work is to start in April 2019 and will take until October 2022. The museum is scheduled to open in December 2022.
