"In the heart of the country" fot. B. Stawiarski

The painting Untitled (from the movie „The Beater”) refers to the theme of the Holocaust often recurring in Sasnal’s work. It was inspired by a frame from the movie The Beater (1963, directed by Czesław Petelski and Ewa Petelska, written by Roman Bratny). The movie tells a story about a group of Hungarian Jews who managed to escape from trains taking them to an extermination camp and who fall in a forest in a “hunting” organized by the Nazis during the World War II.
