Wilhelm Sasnal, painter and filmmaker, is one of the most valued contemporary artists: his canvases can be found in many prestigious museums and private collections, including the New York MoMA, Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Tate Modern in London. Untitled (Astronaut) is one of his most recent works of art and reflects the painter’s consistent interest in interpreting and processing photographs, so omnipresent in today’s world. The painting shows a spacesuit of an American astronaut as an exhibit in the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
