Olga Chernysheva is one of the most respected representatives of modern Russian stage. Her works of art are crucial for the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw due to their interest in issues of difficult transformation underwent by Russian society at the turn of the 90’s and 00’s. Chernysheva’s works (films, photographs, drawings, paintings and installations) show marginal everyday events, which purpose is to illustrate fragmentation of „metanarrative” in Soviet culture and theming everyday life in modern Russian capitalism – unsuccessful democracy and tricking its idea. Three paintings from the series The Interpretation of Observations and five from the series Citizens and Movable Feast, 2009 are poetic illustration of present-day relic of Soviet period.
