For a few decades now Magdalena Abakanowicz has been one of the most internationally recognized Polish artists. She earned fame with the so-called abakans, as well as figurative space compositions, made primarily of fabric, but also of wood, stone and bronze. Abakanowicz introduced weaving techniques into the modern art gallery. Characteristic of her are series of sculptures – individual figures and crowds.
