Frances Stark (born 1967)
Frances Stark is an American conceptual artist who has created collages, paintings, installations, and performances. The artist’s main subject of interest is language, and she often borrows individual words and phrases from literature or music to endow them with a new visual existence. Her artistic strategies follow techniques typical for modernist writing, i.e. repetition, fragmentation and montage.
