Awarded at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in 1968, this short-film by Wiszniewski documents, without words, the main character’s experience of heart attack. An important element in Wiszniewski’s film is rhythm. In this film the director joins image with the sound of heartbeat. The film concludes with a factual notation; one quarter of all deaths arise from complications related to heart disease. The exploration of this topic in his first student short-film proved tragically prophetic for Wiszniewski: the director died from heart attack at the age of 34.
