The film unfolds in a single long shot; at first, it brings to mind footage of a peculiar meditation session. The artist raises his hands in concentration and freezes for a brief while. Suddenly, with fluid movements of is hands, Jastrubczak starts to move the utensils featured in the foreground without physically touching them. The artist uses the utensils to perform an extraordinary concert.

The activity is situated in one of the fields of Jastubczak's interest that comprises spiritistic practices, telekinesis, remote communication of thoughts. At the same time, the work teeters on the border between mockery, parody and an attempt at making artistic use of the above mentioned phenomena. From another perspective, Distant Drum may also be considered as a reflection on art as a discipline that combines blague with uncanny aspects.
