AMERICAN TV SHOWS AS HOME INSPIRATION

Dorota Jędruch's lecture focuses on living models presented in American TV shows aired on Polish television in the 90s.

After a period of mass fascination with the life of financial elites from “Dynasty” and “Dallas”, it was time to shape our visions of middle-class life. A single-family home, the suburbs, life between the kitchen and the living room (where anything remotely funny is met with loud applause), became the dream matrix for many Poles. How did our way of living, decorating and domesticating interiors, as well as social behavior norms, change? How long will the change last? A meeting in a bitter (borrowed dreams and models) sweet (unforgettable images from the 90s) atmosphere.
